Hypo-pigmentation vs. hyper-pigmentation

I had a family tell me their child had been diagnosed with hypo-
pigmentation. I know that pigmentation is part of RP. I see it in my
daughter's fundus photos. But is that hyper or hypo pigmentation and
what's the difference? Anybody know?
