Dr. Chanyoung Lee will make a presentation about his research work. Dr.
Lee holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He
recently joined the ITS, Traffic Operations & Safety Program in CUTR as a
senior research associate. Dr. Lee is specialized in traffic analysis
support, winter weather mobility impacts, microsimulation calibration and
validation, and ramp metering retiming.
After Dr. Lee's presentation, our ITE student chapter will also make some
announcements.
All graduate students in our transportation program are required to
attend the seminar. Please make sure each student in the seminar signs

This email serves to remind you that the graduate transportation seminar
to be held on Monday (September 24, 2007) at 11:00 am in CUT 202.
Mr Chunyu Lu will give us a presentation. Mr Lu is senior transportation
planner from Gannett Fleming, Inc. He holds a M.S. degree from the
University of Idaho. Mr Lu's presentation will provide an overview of the
transportation planning process and travel demand forecasting model used
in the Tampa Bay area. The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Model (TBRPM) and
the Florida Standard Urban Transportation Model Structure (FSUTMS)
concepts will be covered in the presentation as well as the Cube Voyager
software. Other miscellaneous topics will include: the differences between
TBRPM and standard FSUTMS structure; FSUTMS/TranPlan transitioning to Cube
Voyager, and Transit Modeling, etc.
All graduate students in our transportation program are required to
attend the seminar. Undergraduate students are encouraged to attend the
seminar. Please make sure each student in the seminar signs the attendance
sheet. As usual, pizza and drinks will be served by the USF ITE student
chapter.

Mrs. Kristine M. Williams will give us a presentation about technical
writing. Mrs. Williams is the director of the Planning & Corridor
Management Program in CUTR. She holds a master degree from the Michigan
State University. Mrs. Williams is a national-level expert with
outstanding achievements in the areas of access management, corridor
preservation, growth management, land development regulation, land use
law, and public involvement. Currently she is serving as the chairman of
the TRB access management committee.

Mr. Michael Frederick will make a presentation about an Enhanced Crosswalk
Program in the city of St. Petersburg. The program uses a new traffic
control device called a LED rectangular rapid flashing beacon to improve
safety at crosswalks. Mr. Frederick manages Neighborhood Transportation
Program for the City of St. Petersburg - Transportation Planning
Department. He is responsible for traffic control through the use of
traffic signs and pavement marking systems; neighborhood transportation
management; planning and design of operational modifications; investigate
and improve safety and accessibility needs as identified through public
contact and staff studies; collection and maintenance of transportation
data, and records. Mr. Frederick has twenty-five years of transportation
experience.
