to USF Law President
Dear USF Law:
Today the Provost announced the appointment of John D. Trasviña, Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as the next Dean of the University of San Francisco School of Law. The announcement brings to a close an exhaustive national search to identify the best leader to guide our law school in the years ahead. As a native San Franciscan, civil rights attorney, and longtime public servant, John Trasviña brings to the law school extensive experience and a deep understanding of our history and values. His appointment represents a commitment to innovation and change and I am optimistic about his ability to lead our law school in the right direction. To that end I have already reached out to Assistant Secretary Trasviña to offer my assistance during the transition to ensure that important student concerns raised this year are swiftly and adequately addressed.
I want to extend my thanks to all of you that participated in the process by attending the town hall meetings and submitting feedback. Student participation in the governance of the law school is vitally important and it was my privilege to serve on the Dean Search Committee. I congratulate John Trasviña on his appointment and look forward to what the future holds for our unique and dynamic community.
