Dear USF Law:

I am writing to provide a brief update about Monday's meeting and to solicit additional information in anticipation of next week's town hall meeting with the Provost (Wednesday, March 27th; 5:00 pm - 6:20 pm; Kendrick 100).

First, a special thanks to the more than 120 people that attended the meeting on Monday (and many others that sent a note of support).  We had a thoughtful and productive dialogue and we are in the process of compiling your feedback and questions; we will disseminate a summary of that information later this week.  In the meantime, if you were unable to complete the survey distributed at the meeting (attached), please do so and e-mail it to us at s...@usfca.edu before Friday, March 22, 2013.  We will compile your specific questions and send them to the Provost (and the Dean) prior to next week's meeting to ensure that we receive substantive answers on Wednesday.  A copy of the questions will also be distributed to the student body.

Second, during Monday's meeting Alex Hoffman '13 presented a preliminary assessment of the U.S. News & World Report Rankings (attached).  As noted during the meeting, the data shows a decline in nearly every category for the law school.  While our assessment is not yet complete, it is important that we have as much information as possible as we seek to understand how we arrived at this point and how best to move forward.  Please feel free to review the data prior to next week's meeting and send any related questions to s...@usfca.edu.  Questions about the data may also be directed to the Provost (and the Dean) next week as the law school has thus far failed to provide students with its own analysis and/or comprehensive response.

Finally, I very much appreciate the willingness of so many who have offered to join our efforts to change the law school for the better.  As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I look forward to seeing you at the town hall meeting next week.

All the best,
Jamal
