to USF SBA Elections

Dear Friends, Peers, and Colleagues,

I first want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to be involved.  Your efforts will make a difference in one way or another.

Since this election has begun, I have promised to provide nuts and bolts as to how I intended to transform my vision into fruition.  I personally believe that that is exactly what I have done so far.

Students want jobs. As SBA President, I will create a Jobs/Internship Committee in conjunction with the Office of Intern/Externships to help place students inside of one of the 229 Firms, Law Offices, and Legal Departments that USF already has a working relationship with so that students can develop their skills and gain a competitive advantage as a student intern.  I will also ask each of our students groups to host at least one professional mixer so that interested students will have several opportunities to network with a diverse group of employers.

Students want their voices to be heard.  As President, I will shift the organizational culture of SBA so that student advocacy and inclusiveness will always remain first.  I will create a seat at the table for the leaders of each and every student group by hosting collective meetings with them, the dean, and key members of our faculty at least twice next year so that we can collectively identify our issues and constructively work to solve our problems.  SBA will also be committed to holding at least one town hall per semester so we can focus our efforts on changing the things that matter most to you.

Finally, students want to ensure that they are receiving the best education possible at an appropriate price. As SBA President, I will implement student led Administrative Reviews so that our administrators will be held accountable moving forward.  From the outset SBA will work with the new dean to remove burdensome restrictions that prohibit students from participating in our excellent clinical programs, and SBA will ensure that all at times the things that USF Law is doing well will be held out and recognized at all times by drafting support resolutions.

If you want the aforementioned changes, then I kindly ask you for your support throughout the rest of this week and your vote, because together we can make a difference.

Sincerely,

Kourtney M. Bell
