Hi, I sometimes log into usf.edu by telnet (rlogin) session via
modem pool. But its allowble idle time looks much shorter than that
of PPP session. I haven't measured it, but it takes only several
minutes for mode to kill the session.
Can you extend it to a little more reasonable period ??

Thanks

The idle timeout period for the modem pools is 15 minutes regardless of
whether the connection is a VT100 or PPP. PPP software (usually) resets the
idle timer due to the amount/frequency that data is sent/received.

If you are getting dropped before 15 minutes, there may be timeout settings
on your system (communications software, modem settings, etc.) that are
causing an early timeout.
