Are discounts based on league-specific registrations possible?

Hey guys,

We're running a hat tournament a little over a month from now, and have run into an interesting problem. We are making registration for the tournament free to anyone who has played in any of our summertime leagues, and figured we might be able to use a coupon code (or a membership of some kind) with use limited only to players in those leagues to help achieve this, but looking at the options in both coupons and memberships, this doesn't seem to be possible.

Ideally, it would be great if the system could check a registered user's current league registrations and offer the discounted price point to them automatically. Second best would be to limit the use of a coupon code only to the people who are registered players in those specific leagues. Are either of these things currently possible? If not, count this as an official feature request! :)

Thank you again for all the great support so far, and keep up the good work!

Not possible unfortunately, but this is also a great idea and one we've seen in a couple different forms. I made a ticket here: http://help.ultimatecentral.com/helpdesk/tickets/373

We're really swamped through the summer but I expect things to open up a lot in the fall.

Any update on if this feature will be implemented? We had an unprecedented number of rain-outs in our summer league and were considering offering summer league players a discount on a future league.

We decided not to do so for now, but also sometimes run a hat that is free to league members and would be nice to have this feature.

Hi Chris,

What we've done in the past is to set up & send out a coupon code, trusting the players not to pass it along (since we were clear that it was THEIR reimbursement for THEIR league experience having been below expectations).  And it worked quite well (I microanalyze transactions pretty ridiculously; I know, I need to take a chill pill - got any?).

The only limiting parameter that we set up on the coupon was for the max number of uses to be equal to the number of players to whom it was being sent.  This is just an imperfect workaround, that relies upon participant integrity, but I thought you might appreciate an anecdote of previous success.

Long live Ultimate in the Carolinas!

I'd like to second Josh's message.  We've handed out coupons quite liberally in the past, trusting players not to use wrongfully or share with unintended recipients.  There have been a couple shady uses (out of several hundred coupon applications per year) but we've investigated a few of them and they all checked out.  Usually just a case of a player being entitled to a coupon, but already having paid, and sharing it with another player.

In the end, you can always go through transactions and see how honest players are being!
