Hi, first I just wanted to let you know that your application suite has got the interest of a small software development group in Madrid (Sidelab) and that we're looking into it to see if it can help improve our own ALM platform or maybe even migrate entirely to yours.

Now, it's twice that I've got the latest Jabox version (http://www.jabox.org/repository/releases/org/jabox/jabox/0.3.0/jabox-0.3.0-jetty-console.war) deployed in a tomcat instance (latest version, 7.0.26) on Ubuntu, and each time I login for the first time I get the tomcat error page (on this URL: http://localhost:8080/jabox/.;jsessionid=1EC94DC0C3EAAADCAF78F8515D049557) with the message:

HTTP Status 404 - /jabox/.;jsessionid=1EC94DC0C3EAAADCAF78F8515D049557

Then I delete the .;jsessionid.. from the URL and reload the page and it seems the admin user is logged in, so it's no longer a problem.

Regards,
Radu

Hi,

nice to see that you're interested in Jabox. From what I see at your website you're using very similar stack with the ones supported already.

As for your problem, I haven't seen this one yet, but I'll try it with Tomcat 7.0.26 and give feedback soon.

There are though two known issues:
- Java 7 is not supported yet, use Java 6 instead.
- During startup, if you login to the application, the application still shows the login screen, but now the navigation menu is accessible.

Can you tell me if your java version is java 7?

Hi, great to receive such a fast reply from you.

I'm using Java 6, maybe it's the Tomcat version. But anyway, it seems it only happens the first time after deploying the Jabox war, on the first login with the 'admin' account.
The issue with the login screen I've already noticed it, I imagined you'd be aware of it.

If you're OK with it, maybe I could open a new topic to discuss some points about Jabox and what options do we have to use your stack in our project. Given that Jabox is very modular, we are thinking that maybe we can integrate parts of our project (as the LDAP support) into yours and obtain a product tailored for our requirements. What do you think?

Regards,
Radu

I can confirm that when installing jabox in apache tomcat 6.0.35, the problem I've mentioned has disappeared.

That sounds good, I'm waiting for your feedback. As for the integration with other parts (as LDAP) you can clone the code at github (https://github.com/jabox/jabox) and make pull-requests. We can open a new topic about the integration here, to see how to put it together.

Bear in mind though there is plan for an enterprise edition (not open sourced) that will include various features including LDAP support, you might want to wait until then. As alternative you can still configure manually the LDAP once the deployment of all applications has finished.

Thanks for mentioning that, but we are mostly interested in open source software. That's because our project is sponsored by a government grant (I've been brought here with a grant and the last year's progress of Sidelab Stack was also sponsored by the MEC) and it's aimed to be used in open source environments such as universities.

There are some issues that I have to resolve before starting working on the integration between your stack and ours so I'll have to put it on hold for a few days (and even though we are 3 persons that'll be working on it, currently I am the only one actively involved).

When I'll have a testing environment up and ready, I'll pull your code from Github and start messing with it. I'll let you know as soon as possible when this happens by creating a new topic.

Hopefully you'll have a lot of patience with me :-) because even though I have some experience in software development (mostly web applications) and I have been using ALM tools (Redmine, SVN, Hudson, etc), I've never had to configure an entire ecosystem of this nature.

Regards,
Radu
