Petapator 8.0 is released

Hi all,

Over the Christmas holiday, we have added WIPO PatentScope and an improved user interface to Petapator 8.0.  As PatentScope is added, Chrome will ask to give you for permission to upgrade Petapator.

PatentScope

PatentScope has been improved dramatically in the last years.  Its search capability is powerful and quick.  

There are two things that you need to be aware of:

Its database is not as updated as the national patent database.  For example, the US and EU records in WIPO are about two to three weeks behind the USPTO and Espacenet websites. But it should adequate for most searches.

Limit the search results not more than 50.  In PatentScope, you can choose to s et "List Length", which is the length of search results, to be 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200.  If you set to 100 or 200, it is likely that PatentScope will believe that you are a robot due to the large number of image downloads behind the scene performed by Petapator.  Therefore, you should set it to the most to be 50.

USPTO

We have also introduced a new user interface for USPTO patent search after receiving many comments from the community.  The new user interface should bring back the intuitive feel from Aspator.

The References (forward and backward) will be added later.  We could have it now but due to the large volume of downloads it will impose on USPTO website, we disable it for now.  We are working on improving PatentBell, such that most images and patent text retrieval can be offloaded from USPTO.  This hopefully will improve the speed even further.

I'm trying to do a patent search on the USPTO and I get 45 hits, but my list of hits is replaced with the message announcing Ver 8 release. There is no obvious way to close this message and see my hits.

Could you post or email me a screen shoot for investigation?  Also, which OS and other Chrome extensions are you using?
