I tried newshosting unlimited and used them for 3-4 months. Sometimes
there was a small issue when I was with them, then after I left they had
soon after a couple of bigger issues. However they got fixed shortly
after too.
Support for me is great. I always got a reply back from them and the guy
is nice. Speed was 3mb to 3.3mb and completetion was for everything I
wanted, perfect. No caps like giganews might have for some people.

How does Newshosting compare to Powerusenet? The price is about the same,
but the retention is longer. I've been thinking about switching to one or
the other for a while now, but I wanted to hear people's opinions first.

Regardless of what Ed is saying, Newshosting is head and shoulders
over my best experience with Usenetserver. I had UNS for nearly a
year, then both UNS and NH for several months, and now NH alone for
the past few weeks. There's no comparison!

I'm not saying NH never has any problems. All the news server outfits
I've tried have occasional problems. But unlike UNS, NH lets their
users know what's wrong, gets to work on problems, and gets them
fixed!

If NH pretty much maintains their status quo, I suspect I've found a
permanent home. :-)

UNS has more then 4 servers, they do have 4 adresses
(free)-text.usenetserver.com/nntp1 and 2 that are three seperate
serverclusters.
Newshosting also has several servers clustered, however they use one
address(loadbalancer) witch will direct to the right server.

NewsHosting cause that is one of the reasons why I haven't switched
yet cause I use Newsbin and at least with UNS... I can load up to
addresses and download with 8 connections instead of 4...

newshosting is the best unlimited provider so there's no need to go

NH allows 4 connections to their single unlimited connection. I rarely
use more than 2 to fill my connection. I usually just use one so I
have some bandwidth available for other things.

Why would you *want* to bugger about with 8/12 connections over 2/3
connection points? That is a UNS thing as they are incapable of
managing connections competently.
Those multiple connection tools are intended to connect to multiple
SERVICES to give maximum throughput and completion, and avoid being
impacted by temporary failure of ONE service.

Its likely some total twat there came up with the idea 'lets give them
more connections to resolve the throughput problem. It wont cost
anything and we can do it with a simple flag change. Its mainly the
big users who use multiple connection tools who are complaining'
- Worked fine (at the cost of ALL those using single connection tools)
until everyone started using multiple connection tools - then you end
up with the systems having the extra overhead of having to control and
manage 80,000 - 120,000 connections for every 10,000 customers.

I like their (Easynews's) speed and retention, but when it comes to 4,7
Gb per DVD-R, 10 Gb/month aren't really that much, right?

Just for shits and giggles I gave Newshosting a spin with a free trial
account per someone's recommendation in here. I was maxing out at
about 3MBs on their four allowed connections. That's about 800Kb per
pipe and about half of what I usually get from UNS on 12 pipes.

To clarify it's about half of what I get on EACH pipe from UNS and of
course we have 12 total here (8 officially). So I'm occasionally
hitting 20MBs with UNS. More complete headers or not it's hard to go
from that to a solid 3MBs.

off and on but I expect all of them to get better hopfully but NH is
stuck in the basement for some reason. Ive already signed up so Im
stuck for the month but Ill bail if it doesnt get better this month.
And for heavensake there should be fair odds that UNS will fix their
problems to some degree this month. If thats true Ill go back.

Well... ngroups.net
They resell highwinds, but highwinds don't sell to end-users
themselves. But they aren't truly unlimited, they speed-cap you if you
get too high. But if you're not using more than 100 gigs or so, they
could be an option. Three server farms, both west and east us, and
europe.

Luckily NH after I posted suddenly improved a lot. Their speeds went
from unusable the last week or so to standable. The speeds jumped
right after I posted. Its around 1-2 megs now with lots of short dips
to 600 kbps but overall its far faster without the constant dipping
down to 300 kbps making it super slow.

We research our records for complaints or investigations involving Easynews, Usenet, and Omicron, and the only thing we found was a complaint against Easynews Holdings in 2009. Ultimately, the investigation revealed that nothing occurred within our jurisdiction and the case was unfounded. I am a detective with the Brookings Police Department. I was asked to look into your complaint regarding USENET. As of right now I don’t have a ton of answers but wanted to let you know what I’ve found out so far. The address listed for USENET is actually our local UPS Store. I was able to confirm with UPS USENET does have a mailbox at the store #146. I have identified the person who set up the box as a male out of Winter Park, Florida. It also appears he has a similar online business set up called Easynews, which comes back to a UPS store in Miami Florida. The phone numbers for both businesses appear to be out of Phoenix, AZ and I believe they are both VOIP numbers, which is quite unusual for a legitimate business. I believe I have also identified a legitimate business which this guy does work for in Winter Park, Florida so I am planning on doing some follow up with that company to see if I can find anything else out about him. These ppl scammed me for around $2k I guesstimate. They offered a service that never worked and even after I cancelled it after some back and forth emails and they refunded a small part of the money they have tried a number of times by email to get me to use their scam service again.
