I'm currently using news.usenetserver.com. I signed up for Optimum Online's
Boost service and I'm geeting download speeds of 25+Mbps according to
speedtest.net, but it still takes too lomg to download from newsgroups using
Usenet Server. So what's the problem? Should I be using a different server? And
just for the recrods, I don't understand all this stuff about multiple servers,
nodes, ports and all that tech jargon, somaybe an answer in simple Englis?
Thanks so much.

Any suggestions for a new newsreader? I've been using Forte Agent for longer
than I can remember. All the way back to when it was Free Agent. Thanks.

Hello,

your problem is not you newsreader, but the heavy traffic at the weekends.
Most users have time to sit in front of their computers at the weekends and
so they do.

I see this happen at every weekend since half a year or so.

here some informations I got from UNS-support:

" Server information:
news.usenetserver.com (all groups)
secure.usenetserver.com (all groups, SSL) "

Go to your newsreader's homepage and read the FAQ about configuring,
especially the part with the ports and multiple connections.

" Port 119 is the default NNTP port, but we support the following ports as
well:
23
25
3128
8000

secure.usenetserver.com only allows encrypted SSL connections on ports
443, 563 and 8080.
