Dear Ambassador Jean Kamau,
Greetings from the Eastern Africa Diaspora Business Council - EADBC!
As you know, EADBC is working closely with the US Chamber of Commerce and other partners to host a Trade & Investment Forum on August 7th at the AU Mission Conference Facility. The Theme will be “Leveraging Technology and Global Partnerships for New Frontiers in Trade, Logistics and Manufacturing in the EAC”. The Forum creates a platform to evaluate challenges/opportunities in economic for the East African region including but not limited to: pushing the frontiers of logistics, smart governments and automating service delivery; using technology to increase access to healthcare in the region; an in-depth look at regional capital markets, investment funds and other financing avenues; efforts to attract investment in the energy sector; and what it would take for the region to attract labor-intensive industries,  reduce the cost of manufacturing, and to divert US manufacturing from Asia to the EAC.
The targeted audience is the East Africa and US private and public sector as well as the Diaspora.  Conference proceedings will culminate in a set of recommendations on the mentioned issues, upon which ensuing regional advancements will be gauged.
Given that the event is taking place on the heels of the AGOA conference and that of the Heads of State Summit, which will be attended by public and private sector leaders from East Africa, we will greatly appreciate your office's assistance in identifying attendees from your country in order to secure a place on their itinerary prior to departure for the U S. We further request your help in identifying US companies that have shown interest in doing business in the country, and EA - based companies seeking expansion or investors. We would also like to know who in the US Congress would add value if included as a speaker. We have been working very closely with Congresswoman Karen Bass, thus far, who will be presenting the key note address for the forum. If available, it would be helpful to get a summary of your nation’s top priority projects so we could highlight them. EADBC's leadership is also keenly interested in meeting the country leaders during their visit in Washington, DC. This will be a great opportunity given that we will be in the city for other events with our partners such as the Woodrow Wilson Center.
Lastly, we invite the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya as branding partners and would be deeply appreciative if this event can be added to your schedule of events.
