Hello Delegates,
Happy Friday!
So lots of updates!
First, we are NOT having a training today- the Occupy Wallstreet panel is in the IPJ theatre at the same time, and I know we had some exec members (including myself) who really wanted to attend that. Regardless, if you have ANY suggestions of stuff we can send out, or what you need help with, or if you want video, etc. Please express yourself on the facebook page or shoot me an email.
Nov 5th- UCSB position papers due. If you are in the class, remember you have to write a position paper on this. Here are the committees and background guides. Pick any country if you are not going. http://www.sbmun.org/college/resources/
UCSB MUN- If you ARE going to SBMUN, and you need help with anything, please reach out to me or any exec members in person or on the facebook. I need somebody who is going to put together a list of people attending, country assignments, and phone numbers. Next class the carpools will be set up, so make it to the Weds 2:30 class.
Nov 13th- UCSD is holding a training conference, it will be pretty informal but a great way to get new delegates and those heading to NY next semester a good refresher on how MUN works for new people. This is also an opportunity for those who would want to chair as the dias. If you can make it, I highly encourage you to attend, its only a10 minute drive and it is relatively short.
December MUN activity on human rights- I have been talking to Natasha about MUN working with A.S. to do a human rights awareness day on Dec 10th. If you are interested in helping plan it or have any ideas, please contact Natasha. I would want all of MUN involved in this, it is a great event to put on!
Finally, a few of our members attended the UN day speaker hosted by UNASD and it was great. There was a ton of great feedback from students about networking. If you are interested in joining the United Nations Association of SD, you can get a student membership for $10 and keep going to UNASD events. http://www.unasd.org/pages/membership.html
I will be sending out the promised email of opportunities soon, so look out for that.
Until then, see you next Wednesday and/or Friday at 2:30 IPJ Map Room
Best,
Sophia
