There are 316 million people in China between the ages of 15 and 30. In the United States there are 66 million. In what ways are they similar? How do they differ? We hope you can join us in Shanghai on Friday, April 3 as we explore the aims and concerns of this large and important generation. 
What's on the minds of millennials in China and America? What are their hopes and worries? At this symposium, we'll be exploring the aspirations of young Chinese and Americans with regard to school, work, romance, and life. What are their attitudes toward gender and generational roles? What obligations do they feel towards their own dreams, toward their families, their friends, their employers, and their communities? What does how they spend their time and money signal about their priorities?
Please join us to hear from and talk with leading researchers, businesspeople and journalists about these and other questions. #MillennialMinds is organized by the USC U.S.-China Institute 南加州大学美中学院 and co-sponsored by the USC Alumni Club of Shanghai 上海南加州大学校友会. Who should attend? Anyone interested in gaining insights into the generation which is already having a huge impact not only on China and the U.S. through their consumption, recreation, and work habits. The Institute of Neuroimaging and Informatics (INI) in the Keck School of Medicine of USC is home to a new, one-year Masters of Science (MS) degree program focused on neuroimaging and the informatics associated with brain imaging. This advanced program of study will provide students with a deep understanding of the scientific and clinical underpinnings of neuroimaging science and how to leverage it in large-scale to make new and important discoveries in biomedicine. The year-long, 26-credit program comprises didactic lecture courses on the technology of neuroimaging, a detailed examination of brain anatomy and function, and the variety of data-type dependent as well as integrative computational processing approaches. Students successfully completing the INI NIIN program will be ideally-positioned to apply to formalized medical training programs, join competitive PhD research training programs, locate laboratory or administrative employment in the growing field of brain imaging neuroscience. 4. USC 2015 SUMMER PROGRAMS ( A ) USC Summer Law & English program The USC Gould School of Law 2015 Summer Law & English program will run from July 13 – August 7, 2015. The four-week non-degree, non-credit summer program introduces students to various areas of U.S. law while providing the opportunity to improve their legal English and legal writing skills. Our outstanding combination of USC Law faculty and ESL instructors from the USC International Academy create customized lesson plans to complement both our American law and legal English curriculum. Students attend exciting activities such as a curated courthouse tour, a visit to the Getty Museum, a trip to the Santa Monica Pier, and a Dodger’s baseball game, providing them with the opportunity to enjoy their summer in the dynamic cultural environment of sunny Los Angeles! | The youngsters came to USC to explore what they want to be when they grow up No, they’re not making freshmen quite that young. The youngsters you saw on campus Feb. 27 — more than 120 of them — were guests of Jumpstart and EdMonth, invited to explore what they want to be when they grow up. Children rotated between a reading garden and learning stations about engineering, art and science. | Jumpstart’s group of more than 40 core members serve preschool children in low-income neighborhoods near the university, teaching them vital language and literacy skills. EdMonth is a student-led program devoted to raising awareness about the state of education. Read More |

(c) USC wins top awards at Independent Games Festival 南加大獲最佳獨立電玩與最佳學生電玩大獎 
| Games centering on a mysterious solar system and human empathy receive accolades at the 17th annual event. USC captured two of the top awards at this week’s 2015 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the largest gathering of the indie video game industry. The 17th annual Independent Games Festival handed out its grand | prize for best independent game on March 4 and its best student game award to two video games from USC. Outer Wilds, which was a thesis and advanced games project at USC, won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize for best independent game and its accompanying $30,000 cash prize. The game, which also won the Excellence in Design Award, gives players 20 minutes to explore a mysterious solar system trapped in a time loop at the end of the universe. Close Your, an undergraduate USC game, won best student game. Eight such games from around the world were selected as finalists for the student showcase this year. Two were from USC: Close Your and a•part•ment. Close Your, which also won the IndieCade Developer’s Choice Award in 2014, is an interactive experiment in human empathy in which players are immersed in the life of a character suffering from memory loss.
