USC Graduate & International Programs Our office hosts a number of programs designed to give international attorneys a fundamental understanding of the U.S. legal system, including our Summer Law & English Program, Residential LL.M. Program, 2 Year Extended LL.M. Program, Online LL.M. programs, Master of Comparative Laws Program, and Visiting International Program for Lawyers. Since our first Master of Laws class in 2003, we have graduated over 1,340 students from our programs, who join over 10,000 USC law school alumni and 365,000 living USC alumni worldwide. Our students have come from 6 continents and 70 countries around the world. (1) Residential LL.M. Program Our Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program provides individuals who have a first degree in law from outside the U.S. with the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of American law. This one-year, full-time program offers all levels of students—from recent graduates to established attorneys and professionals—the chance to deepen their knowledge and expertise, and explore U.S. law in an efficient and effective way. We require students to enroll in Introduction to U.S. Legal System (2 units of credit) and Legal Research (1 unit of credit); students may select the upper division courses that best suit their needs for the remaining 18 credits necessary to earn the degree. | Oracle Corp. founder Larry Ellison will address more than 60,000 members of the Trojan Family as the featured speaker during USC’s 133rd commencement ceremony May 13 on the University Park Campus. Ellison launched the enterprise-technology giant in 1977. | University keeps up pace of support alongside leaders Stanford and Harvard USC again is among the nation’s top three universities for fundraising, according to the Council for Aid to Education. Now standing at nearly $4.8 billion toward the $6 billion goal for the Campaign for USC, the university finished 2015 with the third-highest fundraising total among U.S. academic institutions, | trailing only Stanford and Harvard universities. CAE’s annual college fundraising report released Jan. 27 lists USC as raising more than $653 million last year. “USC’s academic priorities and campaign goals continue to resonate with the entire USC community,” said Albert R. Checcio, USC’s senior vice president for university advancement. “Each gift makes a difference, and I extend my sincere gratitude to every donor who helped make this successful year possible.” With the release of the latest figures, USC continues its position among the nation’s top three: It also was third — with Harvard and Stanford filling the top two spots — in 2014 and 2013. 2015 was a stellar year for academic fundraising across the nation, as U.S. colleges and universities notched a record $40.3 billion in donations — an increase of 7.6 percent compared to 2014. | They are among the most sought after students in the country – the low-income, high achiever. They include Lauren Mullarkey-Williams of Pittsburgh, who found USC through the university’s partnership with QuestBridge, an organization that “connects the world’s brightest low-income students to America’s best universities.” “It’s difficult for students coming from low-income families,” said | Mullarkey-Williams, a freshman in the USC Price School of Policy. “For USC to seek us out and let us know there are options and they want to help us succeed — that is very important.” Turns out there are many students just like Mullarkey-Williams at USC, where nearly one in four comes from a low-income family.
