• Enhance students’ academic writing, oral presentation and research article analysis skills
with individualized language support as needed. • Familiarize students with occupational therapy practice in the United States through site visits to pediatric, adult physical rehabilitation and mental health practice settings. • Introduce students to occupational science and USC’s cutting-edge research. • Provide opportunities to network with USC faculty members and fellow international OTs. Students admitted to USC’s post-professional master’s program are also encouraged to apply. The 2015 SOTI program will be held from July 6 – July 31, 2015. 5. USC NEWS / EVENTS (a) USC digital technology creates first 3-D portraits of Obama 南加大參與製作美國第一個3-D版總統半身像 
| The debut of a presidential bust might not seem like big news. But the latest depictions of President Barack Obama are more than they seem. Not sculptures or plaster casts, they’re first-ever 3-D portraits of a sitting president — exact duplicates created with digital technology from the USC Institute for Creative Technologies. The USC institute is part of a Smithsonian Institution-led team that created the digital and 3-D printed bust and life mask. Both will be on view in the Commons gallery of the Smithsonian Castle through Dec. 31. The team scanned Obama earlier this year, using two | distinct 3-D documentation processes. Experts from ICT used their Light Stages face scanner to capture high-resolution shape and reflectance properties of the president’s face in seconds. Next, a Smithsonian team used handheld 3-D scanners and traditional SLR cameras to record peripheral 3-D data to create an accurate bust. The data and the printed models are part of the collection of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Read More |

| Cheng-Ming Chuong, the sole faculty member to be elected this year, studies complex pigment patterns in bird feathers ck School of Medicine of USC scientist Cheng- Ming Chuong has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). | Chuong, professor of pathology at the Keck School of Medicine, is the only USC faculty member to be elected this year. The award, given to AAAS members by their peers, was formally announced in the association’s News & Notes section of the journal Science on Nov. 28. Chuong’s research focuses on morphogenesis — how cells are assembled into functional forms. Some of his recent research studied the cellular and molecular basis of complex pigment patterns in bird feathers to understand how stem cells become organized into particular tissue patterns and shapes. Graduates are sworn into the state and federal bars. | USC law grads prepare to move from classroom to counsel — doing so at a higher rate than last year USC Gould School of Law’s class of 2014 graduates returned to campus to mark the capstone in their legal journey — passing the bar. The grads posted a bar passage rate of 87 percent — an increase over the previous year and unofficially one of the highest passage rates in California. The increase comes despite a significant average | decrease in passage among California exam-takers this year. “The unofficial results are in, and your class is among the best, in the top three,” Dean Robert K. Rasmussen told graduates, friends and family gathered in Town & Gown on Dec. 5. “You have much to be proud of.” A test of smarts and stamina The California bar exam is a three-day test that examines analytical rigor, creativity and in many cases, sheer stamina. For more than a decade, USC Gould has been one of the top performers among California law schools.
