| The historic gift is an investment in the school’s future and the future of the profession on a global level Social work pioneer Suzanne Dworak-Peck ’65, MSW ’67 has donated a historic $60 million to endow and name the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, cementing its standing as one of the world’s most innovative institutions within the discipline and strengthening its renowned educational and research | programs. The gift is one of the largest contributions from an individual to a school of its kind. The gift not only provides a capstone to the school’s tremendous growth in the past two decades, but also a means for investing in its future — and the future of the social work profession locally, nationally and internationally. | As an African-American kid growing up in Harbor City in the late 1950s, Earl Paysinger felt a lot of doors close. It was during the civil rights movement, which meant as a kid, just going to a public pool or playing tennis could be impossible – or meant a trek across town his family couldn’t make. | 
| His dad, a cement finisher, worked every job he could get – which meant sometimes driving hours to San Diego or San Bernardino. His mom cleaned houses to help support him and his five siblings. A dog among doctors: Health center’s newest staffer is man’s best friend 首位小狗教授加入南加大保健與健康促進辦公室 
| USC recently added a new staff member. And you could easily say he’s the furriest. Professor Beauregard Tirebiter — dubbed “Beau” for short — is a 2-year-old black goldendoodle. He makes USC the first and only university in the United States with a full-time facility dog on staff, according to the Office for Wellness | and Health Promotion at the USC Engemann Student Health Center. A facility dog is similar to a therapy dog, but rather than being trained to work periodically with individuals, he’s trained to work with a multitude of people on a regular basis in a facility such as a hospital, school or nursing home.
