My apologies but I’ve still yet to receive video from Pac-12 to post our matches.  I promise to have match reports completed as soon as I receive video from the Network.

Below is an entry from Colby Freeman, one of many ROTC candidates who’ve also played rugby at USC.  As you would expect, Colby is a tough, competent, and committed player with a good mind.  He’s made up for lost time by dedicating himself to learning the game.  The players respect him and follow his lead.

To help USC Rugby and its bond with ROTC, please contribute to our fundraising campaign (link here).

Subject: What USC Rugby means to me – Colby Freeman '19

My rugby career at USC has been filled with new and exciting experiences. When I arrived at USC my rugby background was little to none. The only thing I knew about the sport was that I had to pass the ball backwards. In high school, I played football and baseball. I then went on to play baseball in community college before transferring to USC. I was offered an Army ROTC scholarship upon my acceptance to USC. I immediately knew I wanted to continue to compete athletically outside of ROTC. I then found the rugby boys. Finding rugby allowed me to continue to challenge myself in a competitive athletic environment. In the past year and a half, I have gone from being the new guy who knew absolutely nothing about the sport to being a leader and the vice president of the team. I can honestly say that rugby is now my favorite sport. The guys on the team made this possible by bringing me in and treating me like family. Rugby brings strategy, toughness, and a little stupidity into one great mess of a sport. Joining the club here at USC is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I have made great friends and learned many valuable lessons that I will use as an Army Officer after graduation.

Best,

Colby
