Death of former USC Trojan Rugby player Simione Vehikite

With heavy heart, I regret to inform you that former USC rugby and football player Simione (Simi) Vehikite took his own life yesterday.  Scant details exist regarding his passing but please keep Simi and his family in your prayers.

 

Simi played rugby sparingly for us last season as he had exceeded his college eligibility.  In the few preseason matches that he did play, it was easy to see his natural talent and ability.  He didn’t speak much but when he did, the entire team listened; he engendered that much respect from his mates.  Because they shared a tangential Polynesian heritage, Simi and Head Coach Loa Milford shared a special bond and had a specific way of speaking to each other.

 

RIP Simi.  Fight On.
