Can I ask what software anyone would recommend for php/mysql users?
ActivePDF does not appear to support this server model.

I am wanting to create pdf's on the fly, based on user selection from a
mysql database. It needs to be able to work on both Windows and Linux.

I was hoping to get something quick to learn, that can support advanced sql
queries.

I would be really grateful for any assistance anyone could offer.

Thank

Debbie

Are you embedding non fonts.? or using e.g. Helvertica.

Are you adding a page for each item or are the items being added to pages as
the user selects?

It depends a bit on what you mean with "create on-the-fly". If it is
creating from scratch, you would have to look at PDF-creating libraries
and such. If it is combining variable data from a database into
pre-defined templates, you have other choices. And it also depends on
your budget...

For complete creation from scratch, you might look at things like the
Adobe Document Server/Adobe Graphic Server (formerly known as
Altercast), or dig deeper into PDF creation using pdflib.

I am not sure whether the Document Server is already ported to Linux,
or if Adobe is working on it. It would give you full control over all
elements on your document, using XML structures. Considering your Top
Level Domain, you might contact Indigo-Pacific
(http://www.indigopacific.com) for further evaluation help.

pdflib is a library for creation of PDFs, and comes as a core with
various wrappers for most available languages used on servers. You can
get more information from pdflib GmbH (http://www.pdflib.com).

For assembling pre-defined templates which you have filled with
variable data, you might look at the products from Appligent
(http://www.appligent.com), and find out which combo of tools fits your
needs. One great feature (IMHO) is their (relative) ease of use.

Hope, this can help.
