Hello everyone,

I've finally got some full sets of components available. I've got five
sets, which can be shipped either as pre-assembled, tested boards, or
as component kits w/ a pre-programmed Teensy 2.0.

You can check them out at http://www.gregsurges.com/circuitry/store/

Enjoy!

I'm ready to buy preassembled module. Is it possible? no faceplate is ok for me.

Mikhail.

Mikhail,

Just sent you a message off-list, but yes, it's definitely possible.

tempting - but since I've got the PCB & in theory lots of time (ie.
being currently unemployed) I should just order the parts & build it.
Digikey seems to have the DACs. Longer term, I wanted to look into
getting the teensy to recieve voltages (ie. simple low-high stuff) for
feedback from the analogue side.

I'm thinking about analog in for if I ever do version 2. Could be very cool.
And yes, Digikey has all components except Teensy.

Hi Greg (and all),

how can i (as i am still looking for it) use the octomod to control a
synthesizer from within ableton live ? which plugins do i need ?

Hey Jan,

Check this out: http://vvvv.org/documentation/oscglue

Haven't used it, but looks like it's what you need. Free too.

Let me know how it works out?

Thanks. Problem is: I am using Mac OSX...
and it is windows only.

so.. i'll need to find another way.

hi Jan - for my own purposes, I would imagine putting something
together in Max for Live. Do you want MIDI note/velocity/duration s
translated into OSC? or tap into the automation curves that Live can
do (or both?).

Greg - yeah - with analog-> OSC feedback from synth modules, it's an
irresistible feature. I'd mainly thought about getting logical lows &
highs back from the modular (ie. when some cycle completes & the
octomod could detect a state change) but getting gates & CVs out of
the circuits would be pretty interesting too.

You could possibly write a patch to translate MIDI (from Live) into OSC - but you'd lose a lot of precision. There's got to be something out there. Here's another interesting link: http://createdigitalmusic.com/2010/03/19/hacking-ableton-live-unofficial-osc-scripting-for-more-control/

Re: analog in, my only worry (and I think it's a justified one) is that reading analog voltages will cut the maximum voltage out sample rate. Probably by half, but maybe more.

i don't own Max4Live (yet). What i am looking into is a possibility
to control modular synths from within ableton when i am doing
live performances. ExpertSleepers does that as well but eats up my
audio interfaces on live events.

I am not sure (as i am waiting for the Teensy to arrive) if the OSCulator
does that already (as they stated MIDI -> OSC somewhere in the manual),
but i am definitely looking into more integratable such as

midi -> OSC -> analog
analog -> OSC -> (... and MIDI) interaction.

Definitely worth a look into, this is another killer feature. Imagige trapezoid
VCA modulating filters or VCA's within ableton...
