I've been getting back to looking at how to integrate some hardware
with Max/MSP using the octomod.

I thought it would be nice to complete the feedback loop by getting
OSC - or at least 'triggers' of some kind back into the computer.
Especially as I have a nice LFO module & clock sources etc.

This looks quite possible using an arduino with the firmata firmware &
maxiuno for Max. A little proof of concept using a voltage divider to
halve the input works quite well.

The voltages are munged it from +-5 (oscillator) or 10v (clock pulse)
to just the +5v that the arduino can operate with & this is obviously
'unprofessional' to say the least...but it gives me something to get
going with - mainly not-especially timely events from the synth into
the 'puter. It's cute watching UI objects respond to the analogue
inputs...

Of course there's scope to use the inputs on the teensy - or adapting
the octomod-arduino sketch...

I need to buy a project box so I can get it into a pluggable form. If
anyone's interested pls. drop me a line.

Ash

Sounds cool to me, I would someday like to add analog input to the
Octomod. Maybe V2.0?

Oh, and I have a simple circuit to convert a +/- 5V supply to 0 - 5 if you want.

I just used a simple resistor-based divider - It would be great to see
the circuit though.

Yes, something in v2.0 would be excellent - even retrofitting a bank
of inputs should be simple - it hurts my sensibility to have 2
microcontrollers doing something that one could handle but I seriously
doubt my ability to find time to have a go at this for some weeks
yet...

I prefer the route you've taken with the OSC endpoint app running on
the computer rather than the maxiuno/firmata thing - it's actually
quite irritating.
