society! if we want them to go ahead we need to get things sorted asap!
otherwise they wont be as good as they can be!!
1)Shisha and samosa night! - freshers week! park village lounge...i can
get huge shishas for about 15 pounds each, but i need funding for this!
if the society could lend the money, we could make the money back by
entry fee's and perhaps auctioning off the shishas at the end! (we
could get away auctioning double the price, as there is a demand for
them at sussex)! Music can b sorted!- so the Park Village Lounge needs
to be booked ASAP!
2)HOTHOUSE Event! everything is ready to go for that, Brighton uni are
involved, Brighton Hindu society, Sussex's ACAS and obviously USAS is
gona be the host! I got a good mate DJing very cheapp! Its gona be
Bhangra all night, with some RnB and abit of Hindi! so we're attracting
all 'Urban' audiences! Im up for poster and flyer distrubution! mayb
calling the night URBAN DESI! and if goes well we can have this a
frequent night! what do ppl think? Oh by the way i need to know if the
hothouse has been booked for that yet?!
other future ideas!?
End of Term/ or Diwali Dinner and Dance/Asian Ball?!
- A highly elegant venue, 3 course meals, Wiked Music- tickets around
20 pounds! and it will be well worth the money! i do knw other unis
have this annually at with tickets going up to 30 pounds its still
highly regarded!....any suggestions?
-Garba! i do know there is a poonam garba event nearby the uni on Sat
7th Oct!!...let me know whos intrested! and ill sort sumthing out with
the local Gujrati Society
- Diwali! we shud def organise sumthing, but there is an event by the
gujj comm! more details near to the time!
-Holi/Diversity Week/ Baisakhi!!!
We should def do a massive thing for diversity week! and why not get
brighton uni involved?! Talent Show, Fashion Show, Dancers?! Dhol
Players (by the way i;m a good bhangra dancer and a learning dhol
player...anyone wanna team up?)...Holi can b on a big scale this year!
i know the brighton guj comm do a massive bomfire and have SanKirtan in
sum park nearby! Baisakhi also shud b celbrated! obviously with
bhangraa! lol
and if we do events like this tht are profit making then i think the
union will give us better funding...and who knows we could have a
outdoor mela in summer, live music, food stalls, pro mendhi artists!
and i got in contact with JAZZY B!! and he sed hes intrested! so
fingers crossed ppl

i'm rather busy at the moment, so this is gonna be quick
1. shisha. place? i've told michael that we'll have in ussu common
room, on friday, week 0, cos its more central. BUT, we can change it
to park vil fmly lounge, if need be..
2. hothouse? great. we're going with it. hothouse needs to be booked
for thu week 2
ALI.. NEED A FAVOUR. SINCE YOU ARE IN BRIGHTON, ARRANGE THESE TWO,
WILL YOU. EITHER GO HOTHOUSE AND UNION, AND GET THESE SORTED..
3. funding.. mohd. u think union will go thru wit it?
4. fresher's fair.. mohd: we need to tell uni about rickshaw. health n
safety shit. fancy emailing mike riley/michael abt it.. our stall
would need to be accessible to the rickshaw, so that has to be
arranged too
5. sunny: dhol for fresher's fair?
6. ideas for freshers fair first. We're going to have a rickshaw (the
kind that run in india) need our stall.. so that'll attract crowds, we
still need to jazz the stall up, so decoration items, bindis, etc
as for other events, lets sort out freshers week FIRST, then we'll get
together on campus and get amazing events together.

also, SOMEONE needs to take over the website. do any of us know any
good web designers?

Ideas so far sound great, -jus a note on the shearton hotel event for
diwali - been there before and its a great venue for a big diwali
celebration cos i know that royal holloways indian dance society go
there sum friday nites for this "bombay nights" event they have going
on, -maybe get them involved as well for a bigger and better turn out?
Plus, its quite near heathrow so communications would be good as well!
I agree that a meeting is well overdue, im also free any weekend in
london, n weekdays are fine too seeing as i have no job, lol!
