Subject: South Asian Students' Support Officer

Dear all,

I am pleased to announce that Mr Manish Gaur has accepted the post of South
Asian Students' Support Officer in the ISAO. Manish, who is from India, is
studying for a DPhil in Informatics, and lives on campus with his wife and
young child, so he is very familiar with issues facing South Asian
students, as well as those with families at Sussex. Before coming to
Sussex, Manish worked in India as a lecturer, and has also been a warden at
an undergraduate hostel, where his role involved assisting students with
non academic matters such as home-sickness. He is currently also employed
as an associate tutor at Sussex.

Manish's appointment begins in the week beginning 18 September, although
his exact hours (approx. two per week during term-time) still have to be
fixed. He will be meeting new South Asian students on Friday 29 September,
during the ISAO welcome programme.

I know that Janet has been in contact with some of you about meeting with
Manish during his induction day on Tuesday 19th September, and we shall
send you a finalised programme as soon as possible.

Let me know if you need any further information.

Sara
