Start Date/Availability:  ASAP 

Location of engagement: San Jose, CA or Phoenix, AZ

Resident location:   Phoenix, AZ or San Jose, CA (travel may be needed once every couple of months between locations; rate is inclusive)

Remote or Onsite: on-site

Travel:  The candidate would need to relocate or be local

Requirements/Skills:

Hitachi Data Systems will, as more fully described herein, provide Customer with one (1) Support and Management Automation Resident who will be an active participant in and contributor to Customer’s storage team for a period of nine (9) months (“Service”). The Support Resident’s activities will be directed by Customer and may include the following:

·        Drive automation of support and storage management activities.

• Identify opportunities to integrate Hitachi solutions into eBay’s new open source based management framework

Primary Job Focus Areas:

·        Document automation requirements for system and storage processes across the business units.  (eBay, PayPal, GSI Commerce, etc.)

·        Identify opportunities to automate repeatable tasks

·        Develop, implement, and operationalize routine storage automation tasks:

o   Storage Provisioning

o   Storage Capacity and Reporting

o   Storage Installation and Deployment Operations

·        Coordinate with ebay storage management teams and the ebay NOC to maximize efficiencies

·        Work with lead eBay engineers to assist in integrating existing operations into an open source management framework. (OpenStack)

·        Collaborate with Hitachi engineering teams to help drive integration and support of the new framework standards

·        Contribute to the on-going design and development of storage resources automation

The Resident will have skills in the following areas:

·        Storage and Storage Area Networking knowledge.  Preferably Hitachi Storage Subsystems and Brocade Networks

·        Familiarity with Hitachi Storage Management Tools and CLIs

·        Strong Linux / Solaris background

·        Experience with one or more scripting languages.  (PERL, bash, ksh)

·        Programming experience (Python / Ruby On Rails)

·        Familiarity with Puppet Labs Orchestration and Provisioning Software

·        Knowledge of OpenStack Cinder and Swift open source standards
