USAfrica: The Nigerian community in the Houston, Texas area, are gripped with anguish and anger following another major tragedy. Mr. Don Okoro and his wife Nkem, well known members of the community and residents of Katy (near Houston), were shot to death by armed robbers a few hours ago on Saturday, December 13, 2014.

Sadly and painfully, it happened a few days after they left Houston and arrived Nigeria, USAfrica can confirm, for the burial of a much younger family member. And, possibly stay for Christmas.

The couple has five children, one of them Jennifer who 23rd-anniversary-Logo_USAfrica23was born in 1988 died of cancer-related issues on December 26, 2010.

Don, a businessman, hailed from Mbano while his wife was a nurse   from Umuahia.
USAfricaonline & CLASSmagazine (Houston)  have been reliably informed by a close family contact of the bereaved family that the killing occurred near Asaba in Delta State.
At the time of this USAfrica report on Sunday, December 14, arrests have not been made on the case by the Nigerian Police.

The problems of insecurity and poor enforcement of public safety remain twin challenges for the federal government of President Goodluck Jonathan and most of the state governments. Several Nigerians returning from the U.S, the UK, Canada and other parts of the world have been killed by armed robbers.                                                                                                                                        Dr. Chido Nwangwu, Founder & Publisher of USAfrica, CLASSmagazine, and the first African-owned, U.S-based newspaper published on the internet USAfricaonline.com appears as an analyst on CNN, SkyNews, etc. Follow him on Twitter.com/Chido247
