Position -User Experience Designer (interaction designer and visual
designer)
Location – San Jose CA (Local candidates only)
Duration – 6 months + contract
Interview Process – Telephonic and in person interview
The ideal candidate has:
• Significant experience with user experience design for a consumer
Internet company, including interaction design, visual design and user
experience research
• A strong sense of design in respect to creating simple, elegant,
aesthetically pleasing interfaces based on user-centered design
principles
Primary Responsibilities:
• Working closely with a cross-functional team to translate
requirements into concepts and elegant user design, interaction
models, user task flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote
ease of use and optimize the user experience
• Organize design details into a complete user experience
specification to be used by development
• Help all of us better understand the user by testing the usability
of features and conceptual designs
• Be responsible for all stages of user experience design throughout
the product lifecycle ensuring a compelling look and feel that meets
branding, business and user needs (user interface, interaction and
visual design)
• Be willing to challenge traditional design thinking and look for new
and innovative ways to approach design projects and improve streamline
the user experience
• Keep abreast of current design tools, techniques and methodologies
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
• 5+ years relevant User Experience Design experience for a consumer
Internet company
• Practical experience employing user centered design methods
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, at ease speaking
with development teams or Executives
• Proven ability delivering high quality designs to customers
• A passion for understanding and serving the unique online
classifieds community
• Highly motivated self-starter, able to work in a results-oriented,
fast paced, evolving environment
• HTML/Photoshop/Fireworks proficiency required; Ajax/Flash/Flex
proficiency a plus
• Fluency in English required
• Bachelor's or higher degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer
Interaction, Cognitive Science or related field required with strong
academic performance
