Without the inspiration from Professor Falola, this month of Mercy, it would not have even crossed my mind to write the following, and this means that he is getting additional rewards for extending the original light from al-Quran and hadiths  - it’s known as spreading the light,  Amr Bil Maroof Wa Nahi Anil Munkar // Enjoining good and forbidding wrong,  and we sincerely wish him

JazakAllah Khairan!

In this performance  by Allen Ginsberg: Do the meditation, the emphasis is on

"Generosity Generosity Generosity yeah Generosity!

Generosity Generosity Generosity yeah Generosity!"

Tzedakah – giving in charity, philanthropy is very  important;  according to some of the Jewish sages, Tzedakah prolongs life

The importance of Sadaqah cannot be overemphasised for Muslims and for all fellow human beings whether “believers”, unbelievers, non-believers, agnostics, atheists, in fact all humanity.

Giving sadaqah is a very good deed, and we should not forget that our deeds, good and bad are counted – just as our days are numbered, and whether you believe it or you believe it not you cannot prolong your life by even one extra second when it’s time for you to go;  after all, that’s why we are here and have been here all these years, making that preparation, so there’s not much point in reading Agatha Christie or studying Karl Marx  on the way to our own funeral at Highgate Cemetery as we are not going to be facing those kinds of question in the grave, but we may have to account for the money acquired, looted, hoarded, the non-haram and the haram money spent on charity, going on pilgrimage, not going on pilgrimage because buying the latest BMW  and the super-stereo sound system was more important. (I hope that I still have my room in Mecca)

I have enquired extensively about tzedakah and to sum it up briefly, every time you give in Charity, your heart is purified, a little dark spot is removed - so that in time the heart could be effulgent, full of light. “Dark spot”, light” “luminosity” these are all metaphors about the reality, and the light that we are going to enter at the end of the tunnel, InshAllah.

The idea is to give in charity frequently

We have what is locally and universally accepted by the Sunni, the Shia and all Muslims, past, present, and future as the Verse of Wilayah.

Hadiths about this verse.

“Abu Dhar al-Ghifari, one of the earliest converts to Islam, was said to have related the following hadith to Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Tha'labi, the Sunni author of the Tafsir al-Thalabi:[21]

“One day, I was praying with the Prophet in the mosque when a beggar walked in. No one responded to his pleas. The beggar raised his hands towards the heavens and said, "Allah! Be a witness that I came to the Prophet's Mosque and no one gave me anything." Imam Ali (a) was bowing during his prayer at that time. He pointed his little finger, on which was a ring, towards the beggar who came forward and took away the ring. The incident occurred in the Prophet's presence, and he raised his face towards heaven and prayed:

"O Lord! my brother Musa had begged of Thee to open his breast and to make his work easy for him, to loosen the knot of his tongue so that people might understand him, and to appoint from among his relations his brother, as his wali, and to strengthen his back with Harun and to make Harun his partner in his work. O Allah! Thou said to Musa, 'We will strengthen thy arm with thy brother. No one will now have access to either of you!'[22] O Allah! I am Muhammad and Thou hast given me distinction. Open my breast for me, make my work easy for me, and from my family appoint my brother Ali as my wali. Strengthen my back with him.” (References to Ali in the Quran)

The Verse of Wilayah occurs in Surah al-Ma'idah ( The Table Spread/ Food) , a very important Surah…
