Anarchy?

Somehow I found this at the top of my blank page : Cream Wright

I don’t know how it got there. I must have put it there?

I remain clueless.

Professor Jibrin Ibrahim who usually doesn't mince his words, but Anarchy

On all the fronts  - he mentions  all the alarming keywords , security, welfare of citizens, “sectarian conflicts, both ethnic and religious, fueled in part by massive disinformation and hate speech in both the traditional and social media…the political economy and is generated mainly by public corruption over the past four decades”…etc etc etc Borno State “losing ground to terrorists”...in Plateau State,“ a genocide against the Plateau natives”...”Given the number of these disaffected young persons who are arming themselves to find solutions to their problems, we can easily fall into anarchy and were that to happen, we will ALL BE LOSERS as our lives would become nasty, brutish and short.”

We understand that things are moving so rapidly. It was not so long ago that Doyin Okupe was telling us that “Goodluck Jonathan Is Like Jesus Christ”. Doyin Okupe trying his hand at poetry, maybe also revelation and prophecy, but how accurate was that comparison? Doyin Okupe, thou shalt not exaggerate, even if gone are the days when Goodluck Jonathan was being lambasted as “clueless” by Buhari sycophants.

So who is Bola Ahmed Tinubu being compared to, now that according to latest reports ”things” are getting dramatically worse and the country - like a rudderless boat is supposedly drifting towards anarchy? Is there anyone, the Commissioner of Police maybe, or the Chief of Security taking responsibility for the country’s alleged current state of anarchy/ sliding into anarchy? And if indeed, there’s a “ 90% improvement in security under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration”, then how bad it must have been under his APC predecessor Muhammadu Buhari !

You know what? Should Nigeria harvest a couple of gold medals at the next Olympic Games, and be awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics,  the Nobel Prize for Literature (Poetry?), the Nobel Prize for Medicine, and the Nobel Prize for Peace this year, four Nobel Prizes in the same year, it would mean much respect on the world stage. We would have e.g. Trump sitting up and taking notice, especially if the Nigerian who bagged the medicine award happened to be a researcher at John Hopkins University - then the world would hear Trump beating his chest and saying about Nigerians, “They are very fine people  - we have some of the best over here - we train them and you see, they get awarded Nobel Prizes, and that’s what America does for good immigrants, that’s why America is so GREAT again ! ”

He won't be feeling so great again about the Peace Prize though, he might even think privately or say it out loud publicly, that his peace prize was “Stolen”, but how could his peace prize also be stolen when he promised to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours if he became President and he has now been President for 86 days and still has not lived up to his promise ?

And, most importantly, when is he going to end the carnage in GAZA?

Here’s something for him to consider, and it's man of conscience protesting :

Personally I’m a philo-semite rather than the reverse, albeit struggling these days within myself to resist the anti-Jewish prejudices that both this ‘weaponising’ of anti-Semitism, and of course Netanyahu’s cruel and disproportionate onslaught on Gaza, must be arousing elsewhere.”

Anarchy?

Vengeance is mine saith the Lord

Even with a complete breakdown of law and order, it can't get worse than this in a democracy ?: LIVE | Trump Confirms Plan To Send Biden To Jail? Huge Threat Over Ex-President Pardons | US News

Nigeria : Any and all ill-reports emanating from Nigeria contribute to  racism and racist stereotyping  : “Just look at them  - they can’t even govern themselves ! “ - that’s what the racists and the uncle toms are always saying , “house of shame “ etc

What’s the word in Yoruba - if it exists at all,  in Hausa , in Igbo, Fulani, and Kalabari ?

Thanks to Chinua Achebe and his magnum opus “Things Fall Apart”

a title lifted straight out of Yeats’ The Second Coming , the word  Anarchy

is never a good word and ever a bad omen in the Nigerian English context,

since these lines are already etched on the lips and engraved in the minds of Nigerian readers and leaders in particular :

“Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity.”

For the pessimist the question was what good can come out of Nazareth which is in the Galilee

 - at a time when their putative Mosiach appeared, whilst on the lips of the cynics, the God-forsaken racists and the lost, is ever the mantra,

“ What good can come out of Nigeria?”

Moments before reading Jibrin Ibrahim’s ” Anarchy” , I read - and liked

THE FALCON TO THE FALCONER by Jonathan Steffen -the title itself transporting the seasoned reader to Yeats’ opening lines

“Turning and turning in the widening gyre

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;”

In this his latest in the everlasting series in the long litany of misery, Jibrin Ibrahim’s is truly a chilling assessment, taking the temperature of the Sleeping Giant Nigeria and it’s an assessment that’s entirely disconcerting for “the smallies” by which is meant the smaller ECOWAS states such as Shierra Leone, since our hope is in God and in Nigeria, that by God-power, and by hook or by crook, if Big Brother Nigeria thrives / succeeds, then we the smallies hope to be lifted, even uplifted by the inspiring example and if, no hope, and the worst happens then it’s curtains, and together we perish.

The first thing I did after reading the latest in the macabre series was to check Uncle Sam’s assessment, since their Embassy in Nigeria is not sleeping, and here it is for you to read :  2025 : US Gov. Travel Warning : Nigeria ( not good for business)
