to dialogue, ya
The various papers on The Gambia, the memoir, Sweat Is Invisible in the Rain, and Africa-at-large are dominated by the centrality of politics. As to be expected, the dangers of dictatorship were highlighted. The fear was expressed that democratization does not necessarily produce democracy. Milipoliticians do not produce development and they can be predatory leaders.
Well attended and focused, many people called for more conferences on The Gambia and in The Gambia.

TF,
Congratulations for the successful conference and book launch.
Democracy will thrive in an environment of well educated politicians and electorates who have common sense of unity and purpose guided by leadership and institutions where nobody is above the law.
For now, it seems,  only very few African countries,  if there is any that have the above democratic ingredients.
Segun Ogungbemi.
