Venezuela was heavily sanctioned.
Its gold reserves  were also
confiscated- by the UK.

Until China and Russia stepped in
to purchase commodities, the stranglehold 
on the economy took a toll on
the daily lives of Venezuelans.

The neocon plan was to impoverish
 the population so that they would 
revolt against the government and
blame the victim.

That didn’t happen although a large
 exodus to neighboring countries 
followed by some who just wanted
to survive.
