Dear members,
I am an instructor of sociology in a Canadian university. I am developing a second year course on peoples of Africa (please see below a précis of the course). I would appreciate any suggestions of textbooks and others reading resources that cover issues and themes relating to pre-colonialism, colonialism and post-colonialism in sub-Saharan Africa. Given that it’s a second year course, an all encompassing textbook covering different issues and topics in the subject area would be ideal.
I want to use two key textbooks, with one being “general” and the second being “particular”. I have found a very good one for the latter, which is Falola’s highly acclaimed memoir, “A Mouth Sweeter than Salt”. Any ideas of comprehensive textbooks on the general aspect would be appreciated. Thank you.
You can send suggestions via the listserve or directly to me at: afroe...@hotmail.com
