I'm interested in reading different views on this controversy but I can't find any beyond that of Soyinka and the Emirs palace.
Why is the Yoruba traditional festival being banned by some influential Muslims in Illorin?
The organiser of the festival also claims she has received death threats in the name of making her not to hold the festival.
The only reason I saw in the response from the Emir's palace's response is that it would be rowdy and lead to breakdown of law and order.
But the same response from the palace describes another elaborate festival which the palace seems to approve of.
