I really wish to keep keeping us quiet because of how risky it has become but I know the depth and seriousness of the issues we have on our hands; mostly self inflicted, hence I still bother to weigh in and tell us the bitter and inconvenient truths even if it is just to please my conscience.

We have set ourselves back by ourselves by more than at least a decade; losing competitiveness in all areas, including governance, politics, trade, commerce, education, entertainment and hospitality industry etc. All these without our so called mortal enemy, the Fulani firing a single shot.

We are now seen as the most unintelligent tribe in Nigeria by the kind of things we manufacture, sell to ourselves and swallow hook, line and sinker and how easily we are deceived and misled by all manners of dubious characters, including Femi Fani Kayode and the likes.

Those who we considered and still consider inferior to us and illiterates, now parade and exhibit more wisdom and common sense. Worse we do not trust ourselves. Neither does anyone trust us anymore.

What a self inflicted disaster.

Any Igbo man still calling and blaming Buhari or APC today is either insincere or does not get it and may never get it. It is all too obvious for God and man to see.

Anyone who knows Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara in 2015; especially the first three should visit today and see the positive transformation; in spite of the legitimate insecurity in those places as at 2015 and even subsisting.

Then let that one take a trip round the 5 states of the South East; apart from maybe Ebonyi and compare between 2015 and today and contrast with the states I mentioned above.

Meanwhile as at 2015, the South East was undoubtedly one of the most secure zones in the federation. It would be interesting to know what some of us would say has happened or who is responsible for that.

In all that time, from 2015 to date, no single dime of monthly allocation has been withheld from the South East states. In fact, extra monies came in in the form of Buhari bail outs, Paris loan refund, Abacha loot refund etc.

Ominously, in the face of all these we keep lying to ourselves, playing the ostrich and continue to blame all our woes on others; on everyone else but ourselves. Essentially, there is fire on the mountain but apparently no one is running.

We used to be the repertoire of wisdom, tact and discretion. What happened? Suddenly, it does seem we are losing it or have lost it all. I really pray that we wake up sooner than later before it is too late.

I come in peace.
