One hopes that those who drafted the aforementioned bill, which was reported to have passed second reading in the House of Representatives on 14th February, 2024, made appropriate extensive consultations and took into consideration the whole gamut of interplay of factors and dynamics in the Nigeria ports system.

The above suggestion becomes imperative to avoid clashes of functions with other regulators in the sector and its subsectors.

These clashes of functions have remained the albatross that have been impeding the smooth operations in the sector and its subsectors.

A good example of these  clashes of functions is the difficulty being experienced presently in the harmonization of regulations in the freight forwarding subsector.

Thank you all for your time.
