“Democracy don’t rule the world
You’d better get that in your head
This world is ruled by violence
But I guess that’s better left unsaid” ( Bob Dylan )
The Context : Gang Criminality in Sweden
Now if the gunman had been a Muslim or a dark-looking person - they would have had So much things to say - the newspapers would have been screaming “ terrorism!”, the ideological motive would have been easily arrived at without having to be looking too far; but for now the headline is merely “Deranged Lonely Gunman Motivated By Hatred”
King Gustaf and Queen Sylvia are weeping, the whole of Sweden is in a trauma.
With Gaza, after some of the Israeli hostages were released and started praising Hamas, their captors - all too familiar ,some of the War Criminals, Child Murderers and Human Rights violators were quick to proffer “The Stockholm Syndrome” as the most cogent explanation.
So you have all kinds of amateur psychologists posing as journalists ( some of them even posing as “poets” conferring on themselves the title “poet” as a “civilised” high status title by which to claim some fame or make a living, a title that they think makes them brilliant overnight - after each dark night, a title that suddenly makes them more intelligent, makes them inviolable (pretentious monkeys) and makes some of them to start holding forth and pontificating on “The Stockholm Syndrome and Israeli hostages”
The fact is that there ain’t no “Stockholm Syndrome” to be found conquering Palestinian prisoners who are gradually being released from prolonged periods of physical, mental and existential torture in Israeli jails, detention dungeons, interrogation centres and torture chambers. No "Stockholm Syndrome” to be found among former inmates of Abu Ghraib either .The formula is simple : No sympathy for the devil. To expect otherwise is to expect too much, for instance at this stage of the affair, or if he had been kidnapped ( God forbid) and detained by the enemy - and then released as part of a prisoner exchange deal, to expect that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would be showing any signs of weakness, love, compassion or affection or house negro tendencies towards the little Satan or the Great Satan, ostensibly being led by Donald J Trump, poetically speaking “The Great Satan” who / which Donald J Trump wants to make even Greater.
As Imam Khomeini said in one of his speeches back then, “ America is worse than Britain, Britain is worse than America. The Soviet Union is worse than both of them. They are all worse and more unclean than each other.”
All things considered, all the tearful tittle-tattle, tear-filled prayers for the victims, their families, friends , well wishers, in the aftermath of calamity, the latest most atrocious national catastrophe of mass murder ever , what someone heard or the sound machine snapped from the auditory surveillance was the mass-murderer shouting “ You mutha-fk-ing foreigners should get out of here” , causing all mutha-fk-ing foreigners to shiver in memory of what Anders Behring Breivik did in neighbouring Norway twenty three years ago. And the rule of thumb is, if it’s happened once before, then it’s going to happen at least once more, and from that point of view the third world war is on the blue horizon; that should make the average American panic, just thinking that Trump can’t even put out a simple fire in Los Angeles , speak less of some mega tonnes of nuclear destruction dumped on the Capitol - a disaster that would be much bigger than Somebody Blew Up America … Somebody Blew Up America pdf
This tragedy is bad enough. He who feels it knows. It's very difficult to imagine something like the Chibok Girls Kidnapping happening in Sweden, and, God Forbid , if such should ever come to pass in Moder Svea, that would be the definitive end of whatever incumbent Government of Sweden, because Jimmie Åkesson would then be winning the next general election by a landslide and in the name of Islamophobia, from his Day One as Prime Minister in cahoots with Donald J he would most probably be deporting every immigrant suspected of being a member of Boko Haram, without any further delay all the way to Guantanamo Bay...
The fear is that there's already talk about Elon Musk investing £100 Million in Nigel Farage , there's also the worrying news that Musk is supporting the Far-Right in Germany and with some largesse from the richest man on the planet the charismatic Jimmie Åkesson could push spectacularly ahead with, among other things, his anti-immigration agenda. He hasn't started any propaganda Sweden First or about Making Sweden Great Again, like in the good old days of Gustavus Adolphus, kicking ass everywhere...
The far right are a serious bunch; they know what they want, right now they are having their Summit in Madrid

DN DEBATE.
On Tuesday, Campus Risbergska, where I once played blackjack in the corridors, was transformed into a place of fear. On the same lawn where the school fight “Krampen” was decided, relatives now stand and mourn. But in a sea of darkness, a light rises: In crisis and grief, Sweden is a country that comes together. We must hold on to hope, writes Minister of Education Johan Pehrson (L).

Tuesday, February 4, 2025, was a black day for Örebro and Sweden. Campus Risbergska , which was supposed to symbolize knowledge and new opportunities, instead became the site of a brutal mass murder, unfathomable trauma and shattered dreams.
This happened at what we all already know is a difficult time for our country. The attack follows a January marked by bombings and deadly violence on our streets. Insecurity is spreading through classrooms, workplaces, and homes.
The collective trauma that Örebro and Sweden are experiencing will take a long time to heal. Few of us can imagine the fear that must have spread within the walls of what was once my own high school.
The same yellow brick building that I took the blue city bus to for three years. In the hallways where we played blackjack at recess and planned the weekend party. In the classroom where my amazing math teacher Ingvar taught and the film club organized screenings of films by Woody Allen and Francis Ford Coppola.
A sister or brother, a mother or father. Friends whose laughter, thoughts and feelings you will never be able to share again.
Right at the large green area next to Risbergska, we took on our rivals from Karolinska Gymnasium in the annual school fight “Krampen.” On student day, we ran out to expectant parents and relatives.
In the same place, relatives now stand and mourn lost family members. A sister or brother, a mother or father. Friends whose laughter, thoughts and feelings you will never be able to share again. A sea of light rises in the darkness, in memory of the lives that have been taken from us.
What we thought only happened in other countries has now hit us. Queen Silvia captured the same feeling and summed up all the conversations at home around the kitchen table with the words: “Where did the beautiful Sweden go?”

As a politician, I am always prepared to be held accountable for decisions that should not have been made, decisions that were made too late, or decisions that were not made at all. But as a politician, it is also my responsibility to point in a direction that can give us back the Sweden that many worried families and fellow citizens are seeking.
In the near future, proposals and measures will be presented from authorities, the government and other insiders. This is what follows and should follow a national disaster.
I will not make any new promises here in a few short paragraphs. That time will come. But I promise that we will do everything we can to strengthen the safety and security in our schools.
The beautiful Sweden can be rebuilt, where children cycle to school and handball practice – without parents carrying anxiety and fear of what might happen.
But Sweden must not become a USA. It cannot just be more locks, more security doors, more fences and more heavily armed police that will keep Sweden safe. All of this may be needed and none of it must be slowed down if it is required to restore security, but we must not accept it as a permanent normal state.
Because beautiful Sweden can be rebuilt, where children cycle to school and handball practice – without parents carrying anxiety and fear of what might happen.

But it requires a society, a school, a social service and a legal system with completely different conditions and tools than today. One that has the power to break both the gangs' iron grip on teenagers, a growing mental illness among young people and a legacy of exclusion.
Politics bears the ultimate responsibility for creating the conditions, through legislation, resources and means of power. But that is only enough to the extent that it is fulfilled and supported by people, our values and actions in everyday life.
A Sweden with security and dreams for the future can only be possible if none of us turns a blind eye to those who need our help.

Where we have a common expectation of each other to commit to a stronger and more humane society, and do not accept the actions and values that threaten our way of life. Where all parents do their utmost to ensure that the children, at most, play blackjack for the weekly allowance, instead of resorting to violence and crime.
The foundation for a strong and humane society is already here. Outside Risbergska and in the rest of Sweden, a strong community is evident, where people show care for each other. Not out of a sense of duty, but because we are a country that comes together in the face of national crises, terror and grief.
It gives hope and a firm belief that Sweden can overcome its most difficult moments. Together we will heal and rebuild the Sweden we all love.
