Wao! Taking politics to the classroom in public universities in Texas? I think this is ridiculous.

Dear brother, Segun.

You got Gov. Dan Patrick wrong, if my reading of the report is correct.
Ending tenure for those teaching racism theory is to end racism, even if teaching racism opens up intricacies in racism, to mitigate racism in America.
In such a case, taking politics to the classroom is necessary, if it's to instil sense of equality in all.
Go back to the Council decision affirming academic freedom on teaching any course, including critical race theory,in public universities in Austin, and you will discover that Dan Patrick is not reckless in his reaction to the Council decision.
The report quotes him as saying critical race theory is "scholarship to racism."

“Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he plans to propose ending all tenure for new hires at Texas public universities and revoking tenure for faculty who teach critical race theory, a framework of scholarship to study racism.

Patrick was responding to a resolution this week by the University of Texas Faculty Council to affirm academic freedom to teach about race, gender justice and critical race theory. He also suggested that tenure could be reviewed annually instead of every six years.”

The above quotation does not support your conclusion.

I think this is taking politics to university classrooms when a proposed policy leads to a sudden change in status of professors.

I agree that reviewing a tenure from 6 to 1 year is highly political. I merely, for the sake of refreshing the evil of racism,
looked at the side of race theory, even as it is not enough to sustain the declaration.
While they change tactics, we maintain that racism, in any form, is evil.

OMOHA.
