Dr. Ibraheem Badejo to join the Panel Discussion on African Women in Science and Technology, July 27, 2025

Ibraheem (Ib) is a servant leader, prolific inventor, entrepreneur, and early-stage healthcare investor whose career spans many years in different roles in the medtech ecosystem.
Ib in his current role at Johnson & Johnson MedTech (JJMT) supports JJMT R&D as an external innovation leader – providing external innovation support and counsel to all platforms across the Johnson & Johnson MedTech, including identification, advancing early-stage innovation and external partnerships on opportunities aligned with JJMT growth strategy.
Before his current role, from Nov 2013 to June 2021, Ib was the Medtech new venture leader at Johnson & Johnson Innovation (Boston) identifying and investing in early-stage assets of strategic alignment to the Johnson & Johnson MedTech sector. During his tenure at Johnson & Johnson Innovation (Boston), Ib identified, shaped, and advanced early-stage assets that are now part of the JJMT portfolio.
Ib joined J & J through an acquisition of Closure Medical Corp, where he was the Chief Scientist. During his career, Ib has led teams in the development of commercialized biomaterials-based products and new technology/products licensed or acquired. Ib is the lead inventor of a commercially successful DERMABOND Advanced product as well as identifying and in some early-stage assets that have been acquired by JJMT.
Ib received his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Toledo, where he was the Robert Whiteford Memorial Scholar for Outstanding Graduate Research and a Petroleum Research Fund Fellow. Ib received the Science Alumni Award, from Avila University in 2014.
Ib has received couple of outstanding alumni awards. He received the Science Alumni Award, from Avila University in 2014 and 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award (College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics) from the University of Toledo in 2022. Ib is also the recipient of 26 US patents, he’s also well-published in many peer review journals. Ib is a recent graduate of Master of Legal Studies, Northeastern University Law School.
