This is a local study, but there’s an international dimension to the phenomenon. And it’s not restricted to honest people fleeing places where there’s cheating (the focus of the study). It’s also talented people fleeing places, including their natal countries, where mediocrity is elevated and celebrated and talent is shunned or mocked. This, as the video linked below explains brilliantly, is the true cost of corruption—talent flight. Talent leaves where it will not get a fair shake and a deserved shot and goes where it will.

True – Solid piece.  The Brain drain from South to North has and continues to be at a huge cost to Africa and the much of Diaspora. Yet there are many, including many on this talented listserv, who migrate, but then use their improved positions to challenge that corruption.  In that vein the study may not go far enough.
