“The governments of France and the United States also voiced concern and urged the participating guardsmen to change course. Bazoum's administration has made Niger a key Western partner in the fight against Islamist extremism in Africa's Sahel region.“

What a lovely team!

I hope the coup plotters understand that Niger is a client state. They cannot just fight Bazoum but multiple agents:

French forces

American forces

Romanians

Italians

Russians

NGOs

Lebanese merchants

Tuareg merchants

There is anger in clusters: a large youth population; Sunni Muslims

If the coup fails, expect massive killings.
