I'm totally in agreement with your reading of the British Royal Family. Under the personal leadership of Her Majesty the British Royal Family has used its soft power of international relations to sell the United Kingdom to the British Commonwealth and Princes William and Harry have had a leading role to play since their teenage years particularly in building rapport with the South African kingdoms helping to erect impromptu community houses, 'mucking in' as the British would put it and, but for security issues would have done the same in Nigeria.

There is no doubt that Prince Harry is the special favourite  among the Royals and I had begun to suspect that he might marry a South African Black in view of his ability to blend into all races (so the Merkel choice was no surprise to me.)  Indeed television dramas had begun to depict the future possibility of a Black monarch.

We must also recall the role of his father HRH The Prince of Wales in assisting young underprivileged Blacks through financial assistance from the Princes Trust thereby bridging the gap of racism in the wider society.  If you are wondering why recently British Black music is giving the American Black music a run for its money this is where the money is coming from.

Also a few years back HRH Prince Charles personally  launched the Brixton Pound to personally identify with the extensive Black community  business enterprises in that area (where yours truly lived for many years.)  It was the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.

Yes, the Prince Harry effect  (in addition to the Obama effect)  has had a demonstrable effect on race relations in the UK (We should recall that HRH the Duke of Edinburgh Her Majesty's husband was the first member of the Royal Family to personally chauffeur a visiting Black head of state (Obama) when he drove the latter from the airport to Buckingham Palace!

It is now common place to see young white males holding many young black females hands in the streets of London and many white males pushing the pram for their Black ladies with no 'Dream' presages a generation ago (usually the men are the last to change when it comes to race issues.)

Yes, when it comes to race relations in the UK the Royal Family is leading by example- from the front, and Prince Harry has made a difference.

Dear Prof Falola,

I just read a Yahoo report entitled, "Prince William Gives Meghan Markle and Prince Harry a Special Shout-Out."

I strongly believe that Harry's marriage to a "woman of color" has lifted the English monarchy, the "white" (European) race and humankind. Harry is also a giant of history who risked all in a move to unite races and foster international solidarity.

The Royal Family can no longer be regarded as one of the bastions of "white" supremacy but an abode of true inter-racial love. Harry's wisdom is for all ages/time. His racial stock and family will realize this some day.

African leaders (AU) should honor this great man (Prince Harry).
