Akin,
Good heavens.
So many words of praise.
And from a Banking Institution.
Sadly, today Banks do not rank high in meritorious behaviour.

As for Akin Ogundiran, he does indeed rank high in meritorious behaviour.
Perhaps it can be said that in his work, of Public Service of highest quality,
He helps in his way, to restore some measure of balance.
Indeed if Akin were an investment,
He would be a Blue Chip Share
In which one would be wise to invest.

Akin, congratulations for another honour well earned.
Your contributions continue.
You make us all so proud and
Thankful to the Creator,
For your life.

All best wishes,

Baba m

Many Mighty Congratulations to Professor Akin Ogundiran!

I couldn’t and still haven’t watched the whole award ceremony since last night maybe because there were/are so many watching simultaneously and maybe that’s why the video is getting stuck after nine minutes. However, I watched the glorious Emeagwali interview which was an eye-opener and thrilling too, with Professor Akin Ogundiran as the super-sleuth leading to the denouement and all that he said getting yours truly all jazzed up to search for the book in question , some much appreciated painstaking, time consuming original research obviously a labour of love, namely The Yoruba: A New History , hopefully to be translated into Yoruba, Spanish, Portuguese and French for the benefit of the Yoruba Diaspora who are eager to learn more about our roots but may not be comfortable doing so via the English Language….

Well-said, Akin, and well-done!

You said it well: Humans communicated through “symbols” before they did through words.

So let me combine both to congratulate you for a deserved decoration. The person who mounts a golden tiger deserves a scratch on the cheek. Please accept mine in Akan folklore.

Congratulations!

Prof Ogundiran,

My grandmother, a  proud mother of twenty two children, made it well beyond 100 years, but  devastating floods and water shortages, nuclear accidents, pandemics and  domestic terrorism, are some of the obstacles in my  way, not to mention diabetes,
hypertension and  cancer,  the top
killers - none of which I have at the present time - but who knows what
lies in the future.

Add to this long list the fact that I walked out of  Christianity half of a century ago, and may  turn into a pillar of salt, one day,  as punishment for my audacity and heresy.

But  I will try to fulfill the
wish  to live long, if these obstacles don’t get in the way.

You will not turn to salt.  You will survive.  That is just a myth.
