"I define stupidity as behaving in a way that ignores the question: What would happen next? If somebody comes up to you and says, “I think I’m going to take a hike in a lightning storm with a copper antenna on my head,” stupidity replies, “That sounds like a really great idea!” Stupidity is the tendency to take actions that hurt you and the people around you." - Brooks.

Brooks went on to state that banning diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility is like trying to cure acne by decapitation. That sounds stupid to me because DEIA is not acne, it is not a disease to be cured, it is the panacea for chronic diseases identified in the 1930s as 'the American dilemma' by a Swedish sociologist, Gurner, a fact that Du Bois had been harping on since the 1890s in vain.

You mean, Gunnar Myrdal.

What’s this ?

Democracy doesn’t exist in the United States: Chris Hedges | UpFront

There’s also The Vince Everett Ellison Show

Is he just another apologetic bending over backwards uncle tom or is he for real ?

Yes, Gunnar Myrdal was the beneficiary of affirmative action for whites only when he was awarded the grant to do the research, despite the availability of better qualified African American sociologists who would never have been believed if they correctly reported that the sun never rises nor sets and that it is the earth and the other planets that revolve around the eye in the sky.

Rev. Hedges has a point that the great moving right show (Stuart Hall) did not start with Trump, he is only intensifying it. But Hedges is mistaken in saying that there is no democracy since his ability to express himself critically without fear is possible only because of democracy. Make he try that for any African dictatorship and see if he no go smell rods.

Democracy is the worst system of government, except for all the alternatives - Churchill. The US system of democracy is admirable because of the multiple opportunities that voters get to correct errors in elected officials. Trump has less than two years before the referendum of the mid-term elections when he could lose the absolute power of a docile congress. The solution to problems in a democracy is more democracy rather than less.

Ellison should shout and scream less but try the conversational tone of Hedges to be more persuasive. If Democratic Party voters and Independents come out to vote rather than stay home, Trumpism will not stand a good chance.

Re - “The US system of democracy is admirable because of the multiple opportunities that voters get to correct errors in elected officials.”

Once a time we were taught all about Separation of Powers

Don’t you feel uncomfortable about the potential weaponization of the FBI to pursue political enemies of the incumbent government ? A new McCarthy era ? A new J.Edgar Hoover

Despite all the brouhaha about Black Jesus, so far, the only Black person Trump has in government is the dude that’s replacing Dr. Ben Carson in Housing,

With all the vibes about Wokeism isn’t an intensification of what was once COINTELPRO just around the corner?

What are your thoughts about Kash Patel and the enemies list (alleged)
