The task before the global Left and the Nigerian Left is to become more conscious of how doubly endangered humanity as a whole and its segments – including Nigeria – have become under global capitalism.  Humanity’s double tragedy is that the global social forces responsible for this tragedy are also the selfish and corrupt forces in power and directing the solution!”

This debate may interest some of us (Quoting me):

The rejoinder (also citing me):

I believe that Comrade Madunagu missed the context of my original contribution to the USAfrica Dialogue group that Eto quoted at length and that he also cited. Eto was being attacked by non-Marxists when he called for the challenge of the re-introduction of the Lugano report to be tackled at the Pan African level. I came to his defense by pointing our the limitations of the nationalist left movements in Africa and I called for the challenge of Lugano to be answered more effectively through the Pan African left. The problem that I was identifying is the fact that the Nigerian Left and others limit their organizational aspirations at the boundaries of the colonial states just as the South African Communist Party, the ANC and EFF limit their activities within the boundaries of the apartheid state. What I find encouraging is that the masses do not respect the fictional colonial boundaries but transgress them daily in search of their livelihood. The left should recognize this reality on the ground and organize accordingly. I do not think that my intervention is entirely contrary to the original view expressed by Madunagu in his re-introduction. I feel that his op-ed should not be used by non-Marxists to attack Pan Africanism.

Bro Eto,

I did not even know that you are a big Oga Associate Editor at the Great Guardian. Keep up the good work. To attract Baba Eddie's attention is proof that you are doing something good. Keep up the good work.

Dear Prof BA,

Thank you sir. I was a reporter, News Editor, Chief Sub-Editor and Deputy Editor of The Guardian before my elevation to the Associate Editor.

I was also at The Punch as Foreign News Editor. Was a Graduate Assistant at the university before coming to journalism as a young man with a firm belief that African intellectuals and media practitioners should lead the charge to rescue our continent where the politicians are not serious.
