This article talks about the meeting hosted by The Association of South East Town Unions (ASETU), World Igbo Congress, National President of ASETU,  Emeka Diwe and Richard Nwachukwu as Secretary of the Congress. There are killer herdsmen killing people on the Igbo land. ASETU has been working to make sure "all town unions across Igbo land have local vigilantes that are functional, well motivated and well equipped". If something like this happens to where I/people in my family live, I would be terrified. This meeting is important because it is a step towards ending this violence in Igboland. I hope the murderers get arrested very soon.

This meeting that is occurring for the people who are being harmed by the herdsmen is a must needed thing to happen. The people are at risk and not just people but the kids that are coming up. There must be way's to help prevent these situations. I personally believe that yes they do need those herdsmen but there is a way to help prevent these encounters from happening. I feel like there must be security guards to help control these rates or cameras to help notify people about these crimes. The head guys who run the show and have the overall say, must meet together to conquer this horrible encounters.

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Igboland. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would feel to like to have mass killings and rapes in a place that I would want to call home. I think the steps they have taken such as establishing a surveillance and intelligent unit are huge leaps forward. I also believe that until these heinous acts of violence slow down, the people in the community should bear arms and be mindful of the situation at hand. Once lives are lost and women are raped, it is time to take matters into your own hands and protect the loved ones around you. Gathering groups of volunteers across the land is a great step forward and my hope is that these killing will come to a hault.

a.       The regular slaughtering of a specific group of people is something that necessitates immediate action. The Herdsmen raping and killing is something that cannot be allowed to continue, and it is good to see the local government take action. Surveillance units will hopefully help to deter further attacks, although I wonder if it will be enough. With their backs up against the wall, I think the Igbo people have no choice but to take up arms against these vicious assailants.

This article on the meeting of the ASETU and the World Igbo Congress describes some long overdue actions finally being taken. I believe that increased surveillance and security as well as the help of volunteers are all massive steps forward. One can only imagine what these men and women have been through with this constant trauma surrounding them. I hope they are able to feel safe with newly implemented support.
