Dear Colleagues,
Good evening from Taiwan. Attached is the flyer for my newest book: Palestine, Taiwan, and Western Sahara. There will be a Call for Papers in 2024 for a similar book on “Somaliland, Tigray, and Southern Cameroons.” Biafra will not be included because there seems to be a general understanding that it is a “settled matter.” Do have a pleasant week!
Cordially,
Sabella Abidde

So many books supposedly lead to the multiplication of knowledge.
The new book is prohibitively expensive, especially since just like the Palestinians, I’m mostly interested in the Palestinian aspect, including the nitty-gritty, hair-splitting legalese. And like a good China-man, I believe that now and forever, Taiwan of course belongs to China, I guess, just as Biafra - in their case voluntarily, belongs to Nigeria. At the moment there’s no prospect of a three or a two-state solution in Nigeria, it’s anathema. Of course, one must not joke about such matters. Or joke about “Israel-Leone”
Indeed, Palestinian statehood is an enduring issue.
I have no hand in the pricing of my books. I write/edit books whose subject matter appeals to me. As for “Taiwan of course belongs to China,” well, I no know oo. Many historians will dispute that. As for the Biafra matter, well, what can I or should I say? Mnmnmnmnmn, Prof. Thanks for ya comments. I appreciate it. God bless you, Sir! I don waka.
Best,
Sabella

Thanks for the felicitation. I appreciate it. Ever since a group of Nigerians got angry at me for an essay I wrote for the Punch Newspaper some 8/9 years ago, I stopped commenting on Nigeria-Biafra politics. Last night’s comment (from Taiwan) was really not my fault. Na the devil make me write “there seems to be a general understanding.” But sha, that is not my position. I was merely reporting. I don draw cotton and I waka comot.
Best,
Sabella
