Iranian attack caused damage to Israel Air Force bases, IDF says
Iran’s attack on Israel was not the failure many claim
The unabashed, blushing or even grudging admiration of The IDF is remarkable but not so strange after all, because over the years I have encountered a few loyal Semitic / non-Semitic Igbos ( not necessarily descendants of any of the alleged lost tribes of Israel) who adore that country, sometimes to the point of idolatry, sometimes in tune with Bereshit / Genesis 12:3 where the Almighty says, “And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and all the families of the earth shall be blessed in you”, and not being superstitious or overly zealous in their belief in the supernatural but with the sound, unbounded faith that Israel’s Almighty or the Supreme God of the Igbos will reward them with riches and other material blessings, prosperity and other advancements in the national space known as Nigeria and elsewhere, and that on finally exiting this earthly abode will be assured a safe place in the Kingdom of Heaven or hopefully a good place in the Olam Ha-Ba
Not much to complain about here there , except that in certain minds, the erroneous belief persists, that Israel can do no wrong, either that or the fear that criticising or reprimanding Israel's political leadership is coterminous with “ cursing” Israel , thus in this world of human affairs, more or less giving Israel a carte blanche and to hell with Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International reports on Israel and the Occupied Territories, and The Geneva Convention, also to hell with War Crimes , to hell with The International Criminal Court, to hell with the United Nations , to hell with Hitler and to hell with everything except THE HOLOCAUST
Pikuach Nefesh, yes
the sanctity of life, yes
But what about
the sanctity of Palestinian life?
You are over there, I’m over here, far from that theatre of war, the propaganda and misinformation centres in Tel Aviv and the allies at White House in Washington DC busy doing damage control, self-glorification and feeding us with their authorised versions of what actually happened.
Iran’s successful bombardment of key Israeli military facilities was downplayed by the Israeli and the pro-Israeli media outlets and Israeli praise singer mouthpieces whilst Iran may also be downplaying the extent of the damage caused by the IDF, so that they can ignore, brush the IDF’s little bit of nothing aside and don’t have to reply with their sledgehammer when they know that they are only going to hit a mosquito such as “ little Satan”
At this point , given that what has been done cannot be un-done, let’s call it quits, let’s call it a draw, the best possible diplomatic outcome, an end to any more tit-for-tat which could only lead to further escalation and unforeseeable consequences, as mosques, synagogues, the land on which the future temple should be built, and the whole region most likely all goes up in unholy smoke….
Here’s a DN report similar to but more nuanced than that of the misleading, triumphalist report from The Telegraph:

Israel bowed to US admonitions and attacked only military targets in Iran on Saturday night. In return, the White House was quick to express wholehearted support for Israel. Iran is thus faced with a historic decision.

Already on Friday evening there were whispers in Israel about the impending attacks. The media made increasingly clear allusions to what was coming - a stark contrast to the usual secrecy. This, a military source told DN, was intentional, to give Iran the opportunity to evacuate the weapons industries that were the targets of the upcoming attack.
In the first attack wave, parts of Iran's, Syria's and Iraq's air defenses were knocked out, this with the intention of facilitating the task of the heavier loaded and more vulnerable bombers in the next wave. Iran's radar system was largely destroyed, military sources said. Israel, apparently intent on not embarrassing Iran, is not giving details of the damage. The heavier bombs targeted Iran's manufacturing of drones and ballistic weapons, which supply both Iran, Russia and other allies.
In Iran, a dramatic discussion about the future is now underway. Even if Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were to choose not to respond to Israel's attack, a major fateful question remains for him and the entire leadership: should Iran now invest billions in rebuilding the so-called "ring of fire" around Israel, or admit that the project costs Iran more than that taste?

The idea of the "ring of fire" was to provide the Houthis in Yemen, Hezbollah in Lebanon and other proteges with rockets and robots, so that these groups could partly dominate their respective countries, and partly fight on behalf of Iran without drawing it into direct conflict with Israel. This strategy has now exploded right in Iran's face and had the opposite effect. Far from sparing Iran from conflict with Israel, support for Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis has brought Iran into direct confrontation with Israel.
Far from sparing Iran from conflict with Israel, support for Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis has brought Iran into direct confrontation with Israel.
According to Israel's Persian radio and the anti-regime website Iran International, the hawks in Tehran reason like this: "If we let Israel have the last word and stop investing in our proxies in the region, then Iran's position as a regional power player is over. Countries, leaders and movements will orient themselves towards the West, towards the USA and towards Israel's allies in the Persian Gulf".
The pragmatic camp around President Masoud Pezeshkian believes - they cannot say it outright - that the only rational thing is to admit that the ring of fire strategy is bankrupt and seek a new nuclear energy agreement with the US so that Iran escapes the straitjacket of sanctions. Instead of spending all the surplus on weapons aimed at Israel, they argue, the regime should strengthen its position at home by shaking up the abysmal economy.
At the same time, things are happening in Lebanon, the crown jewel of Iran's project. Every day Hezbollah loses enormous assets, partly defense devices and weapons systems along the border with Israel, partly leaders, staffs, banks, archives and factories in Beirut.

Several Christian and Sunni Muslim parties, backed by France and the United States, want to watch as Hezbollah fights for its life and elect a new president — an appointment Hezbollah blocked for two years. Druze leader Walid Jumblatt, a longtime ally of Hezbollah, said on Friday that the time was ripe for "a Lebanon where only the army carries arms."
One reason Israel waited so long to respond to Iran's October 1st attack was that it wanted to devote all its firepower to Hezbollah.
One reason Israel waited so long to respond to Iran's October 1st attack was that it wanted to devote all its firepower to Hezbollah. In Iran, it is understood that Hezbollah, in order to recover militarily and guard its dominance over Lebanon, needs huge injections of weapons and money - money Iran must then borrow from China or Russia.
If Hezbollah, and Iran, lose Lebanon, Israel will be rid of a big headache. Hamas's rockets in Gaza, today almost rendered harmless, were child's play compared to Hezbollah's 150,000 projectiles, which are fired so close to the border that stricken Israelis often do not make it to shelters.
Iran, in other words, must now choose between upping the ante and risking a war of attrition with Israel and perhaps the United States, or rethinking the Revolutionary Guards' and Supreme Leader's vision of regional hegemony.
