Desmond Dekker’s ‘Israelites’ song released in 1968 connotes Israelites the inhabitants of Israel descended, tracing history to Jacob. The word has been used to describe one of God's chosen people. In the lyrics, he said
‘After a storm there must be a calm,
They catch me in the farm,
You sound your alarm,
Poor me Israelites,
Poor me Israelites,
poor me Israelites,
poor me Israelites’.
