They have broken the pot of wisdom, El Anatsui.

'The writing uses an early version of the alphabet in which letters bear a resemblance to the Egyptian hieroglyphs they evolved from.

And the Egyptian Hieroglyphics are apparently of
Nubian origin (Diodoros Siculus. Book III.p.95).

Fine piece on El Anatsui, the most prominent face of the artistic wing of the Nsukka  shool of art which has it's beginnings with Uche Ukeke and Uli aesthetics, if I recall correctly.
