Not me or a breath of fresh air, but in good faith, some old Detroit perfume reacting to Trump to prioritize Afrikaners
I too have nothing against good, God-fearing Afrikaners, in fact a few years ago I had dinner with an Afrikaner family here in Stockholm , I was so surprised when the dinner was kick-started with a prayer, “Grace before meals”, was very impressed and later on was waiting for the follow-up in the same spirit as Birkat Hamazon but that didn’t come and of course I shouldn’t have been so surprised, after all, I am to some extent familiar with South African preacher-man Andrew Murray and his book Covenants and Blessings , and also with Bishop Desmond Tutu and some of his books , and, talking about books, practically, more importantly, there’s chapter one “Reparations, Truth, and Reconciliation” about the implications of The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission which occupies centre stage in Wole Soyinka’s truly impressive reflections titled The Burden of Memory, the Muse of Forgiveness
The genesis of the ugly business did not start with Julius Malema’s recently amplified, misadvertised and widely publicized “Kill the Boer ! ”which like that other old song, Umshini wami, post-Apartheid, is surely, not a Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more, not once again a rally cry calculated to send shivers down Boers’ collective spine, as understood by anyone familiar with once upon a time, Es’kia Mphahlele’s seminal memoir Down Second Avenue which was published in 1959, a good 22 years before Julius Malema arrived on this planet, in South Africa, on March 3, 1981…

But for the divine intervention of Judges in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, that the US government must pay for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or Snap, benefits using emergency funds, 42 million Americans would have been without food stamps and without any financial means of sustenance, starting this Sabbath morning. while Trump & his merry men looked the other way?
So it’s finally dawning on yours truly that it’s time for every Americano with conscience to start taking a closer look at the agendas that my friend David Harrison has been laying out in Our Unfinished Work -
“Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone…” etc
Never mind all the tall talk from Trump about peace - and about ICE but never about justice - and what if he eventually does go to war against Venezuela and by extension against Latin America, sadly only to sing A Song About Myself , sadly, only to discover that he has bitten off more than he can chew and inevitably that would be a major part of his legacy :

Fast forward to contemporary reality :

As everybody knows, a man is known

It should be understood that
our peaceful and peaceable
being banned
from ever setting foot
on any sovereign United States territory
during Trump's presidential lifetime
must be a cosmic joke
part of Trump’s wider plan for world domination.
And we are to suppose, it is a tacit understanding that by extension Wole Soyinka is also banned and will not be visiting e.g. The West Bank & Gaza or any other so-called occupied territories, neither now nor at any time in the foreseeable future, to give succour to the Palestinians there , and this is so because, (a) both Madiba Nelson Mandela & Wole Soyinka have been uncompromising in their support for Palestinian Liberation.This means that Trump & his like-minded allies don’t want to see the likes of the eloquent Soyinka in America, campaigning against him & his, and ( b) because with regard to nuclear weapons - and here ever bearing in mind the possibilities of Iran having nuclear ambitions, Wole Soyinka’s position has been this clear : Either all countries should be allowed to have nuclear weapons or no country should be allowed to have nuclear weapons ; in other words, what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and in that regard it's the more the merrier, putting paid to Bertrand Russell’s ancient pleas about the dangers posed by that kind of madness
About his latest antics - he may wanna call it tactics
well, here's a gut reaction, as Old Major would say,

Of course, in some quarters, Trump's immigration largess for the Afrikaners who he sees as an endangered species in post-Apartheid South Africa is being interpreted as part of his Great MAGA scheme to Make America Great Again, and with a solid ( almost wrote “sordid”) background steeped in US race history , the signifying monkey by Henry Louis Gates Jnr and Hon Minister Louis Farrakhan ,understand that “making America great again” has been variously understood as a dog whistle for Making America White Again , and today, the anti-wokeism etc makes sense of this line from early Bob Dylan ,

As USA’s Julius Caesar, Nero, Führer, King, Emperor, President Trump obviously has his fears of an overwhelming tide of non-White Immigration as a threat to the great white majority, when we’re talking about identity politics and US democracy. Do you remember our discussions here about immigration as an important issue, prior to the Brexit referendum ?
In Sweden under our own Fredrik the Great who appealed to us all, ”Open your hearts”, as a result of which, in the year 2014 Sweden took in 163,000 refugees - have a heart, whilst dear Trump is merely talking about less than 8,000 Afrikaners….
